Group Trip Checklist for Friends: Before, During and After
Everything to sort before, during and after a trip with friends, so the only job left is having fun.

Group trips are the best kind of trips, until someone forgets their ID, the money gets confusing, and nobody can find the photos afterwards.
Most of that chaos is avoidable with a little planning. Here’s a simple checklist for trips with friends, split into before, during, and after, so the only thing you have to worry about is having a good time.
Before the trip
Plan together
Lock the dates early. The longer you wait, the more people drop out.
Agree on a budget. Talk about it openly before booking anything. It avoids awkward moments later.
Pick one planner per task. One person books travel, one handles the stay, one plans activities. Shared responsibility means nobody carries everything.
Make a trip group. One chat for plans, timings, and updates.
Book and confirm
Travel tickets for everyone, with names spelled exactly as on their IDs.
Stay booked, with the address and check-in time shared in the group.
Any activities that sell out, like treks, boat rides, or popular restaurants.
Sort the money
Decide how you’ll split costs: one shared pool, or an expense-splitting app.
Agree on who pays for what upfront, so nobody ends up covering everything.
Set up a place for photos
Pick one shared space for trip photos before you leave, and share the link in the group.
Doing this on day one means nobody has to chase photos after the trip.
Packing checklist
ID cards (and a photo of each on your phone)
Phone charger and a power bank
Cash, since not every place takes UPI or cards
Basic medicines and any personal prescriptions
Clothes for the weather, plus one extra layer
Toiletries and a small towel
Comfortable shoes for walking
Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a cap for outdoor trips
A reusable water bottle
Offline maps downloaded for places with weak network
During the trip
Share live location in the group, especially in crowded places or on treks.
Agree on a meeting point in case anyone gets separated.
Log expenses as you go. Settling everything at the end from memory never works.
Add photos every night. Before bed, everyone drops the day’s photos into the shared space while the moments are fresh.
Take group photos, not just selfies. Ask a stranger or use a timer. These are the photos you’ll want most later.
Keep phones charged. Rotate the power bank so nobody’s phone dies at the best moment.
After the trip
Settle money within a day or two. Clear it while everyone still remembers.
Collect the remaining photos. Give everyone a deadline, and nudge the quiet ones once.
Back up your favourites before your phone storage fills up.
Pick the best shots together. Reliving the trip is half the fun.
Start planning the next one. The group is never more excited than right after a good trip.
Next plan? Jemo it.
Everyone drops their pics. Everyone gets them.
